If you're fighting a robot...

...don't try to win with blunt force. This is a common fallacy I've seen in many movies, and, in terms of effectiveness, it ranks right up there with hiding under the bed to evade a masked killer. Unless you are extraordinarily strong or plan to amplify your own strength with power tools, don't try to punch or kick the robot or beat it with a stick. Most robots don't feel pain, so it is extremely unlikely that you will weaken one to the point of submission in this way. No, when fighting a robot there's really only one sure way to go - bodily dismemberment.

You are correct sir.

No, I beg to disagree. If tv and movies have taught me anything, its that you must confuse the robot, so that it will self-destruct.

Oh man, Michelle, you're so right! CAN---NOT---COMPUTE.

True, but only if it's an articulate, reasoning robot. Illogic probably won't do much to a killer robot that's little more than a flamethrower with a drive motor.

However, a robot must have sensory input to detect what is in its immediate vicinity. Given the cost of constucting something that could, for example pick up chemical traces and determine their source and location (i.e. 'smell') it seems most likely that a relatively cheap motion detector, possibly combined with an infrared sensor (so that it could 'see' a human attempting to hide by its heat signal) would be its sensory input. You could possibly 'blind' the robot by spraying it with heated shaving cream or some similar mixture that would simultaneously render both a motion detector and IR sensor useless.
